I would like to deregister/withdraw from the University. Will I be refunded the money that I have already paid?

Yes, you will be refunded any excess funds, provided that your withdrawal is finalised by the published dates. Please refer the fee booklet for important dates as well as the percentage payable should you withdraw after these dates. The fees booklet can be accessible from the Student Portal (https://ukzn.ac.za/student-portal/). Refund forms may be downloaded from the Student Portal. Completed forms may be sent to Student fees via https://freshdeskportal.ukzn.ac.za. Follow these steps:

  • Click on the “Submit a ticket” tab which is located at the top-right corner of the page. 
  • Select “Student Fees” from the drop-down menu. 
  • Fill in the required fields including a clear explanation of your query and attach all supporting documents. Click on the Submit button once all fields have been completed. 

 

Supporting documents must include proof of payment(s) and a permission letter from the payer if the payment was not done by the student. Please note that the refund process may take up to 14 working days to be finalised. Payments to third parties may take up to a month to finalise.
